Cyclohexanone is an important organic chemical raw material and major intermediate for producing caprolactam and adipic acid. It is widely used in the synthesis of Nylon 6, Nylon 66, and other resins. It also serves as an excellent solvent and is extensively used in coatings, inks, pesticides, adhesives, and photosensitive materials. Additionally, cyclohexanone is used to produce various fine chemicals, such as peroxycyclohexanone, ortho-methylbenzophenone, aging inhibitors 4010, and cyclohexanone-toluene resins, which are intermediates in pharmaceuticals and pesticides, showing broad application prospects.
In China, the cyclohexanone consumption market can be divided into three main application areas: industrial solvents, adipic acid, and caprolactam. Over the past five years, the consumption share in each area has remained stable. In 2021, the domestic consumption of cyclohexanone was 4939.6 kt, with caprolactam accounting for approximately 72.11% of the total consumption, adipic acid about 25.87%, and industrial solvents around 2.02%.
